The town of Gorna Oryahovitsa (35621 inhabitants, 160 metres above sea level) is situated at the northern outskirts of the Turnovo Hills, at the distance of 7 km north-east from Veliko Turnovo, 3 km north-west of Lyaskovets and 247 km north-east of Sofia. The biggest railway junction of Northern Bulgaria.
